Advice For Getting Your Kids “Camera”-Ready

10/25/2020

Kids can be messy. Kids can be loud. Kids can refuse to dress in matching outfits with you.

But you must fight all of the not-cute aspects of having children if you want to angle yourself online as a "happy mommy"/guru. Motherhood has to be pretty and appealing in order to be profitable. (Though you can add in the occasional "real" post so that followers will praise you for being so honest and brave.)

1. Use Props

A cute trinket or a colorful balloon can help add some "pizzazz" to your snaps. Plus, props can be used to hide unhappy (or less-than-"on-brand") faces.

2. Plan Ahead

Little ones love projects and special events. Sure, they may enjoy the actual experience of going to the zoo, but how many likes could a long video clip of that get? Like, five? Pass. Think about what you think your viewers and fans will want to see. That's the priority.

3. Leverage Your Love

Are your kids acting like kids, instead of moveable dolls? Make it clear to them that your affection has strings and that they must do whatever they can to keep your online reputation afloat. Smile, force a laugh, pretend to enjoy a toy for a sponsored post, etc.
